AREA NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE

ABOUT THE NEWSLETTER

The purpose of the area newsletter is to serve our GSRs, meaning the groups, with insights into area / general service work, and knowledge of the current affairs within the General Service Conference. It’s a communication tool that is hoped to engage, inform, and attract member participation. GSRs may find the newsletter to be useful when preparing their group reports.

The newsletter is mostly a digital publication, for reasons of a wider distribution, easier reader access / popularity amongst the majority of members, and cost-effectiveness. A limited number of printed copies (one for each in-person attending member) will be available at each assembly.

The newsletter committee is pleased to provide additional printed issues “on demand” to the groups who have a need. Simply send a request via email to: Newsletter@area8aa.org

Please see below a printable poster with a QR code directing members to the online newsletter. This poster is designed to insert into an 8 x 10 clear plastic picture frame with stand ($0.99) to be displayed on a group literature table.

ABOUT THE NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE
The committee meets online once each month, currently on the third Monday from 6:30 to 7:30 PM, or until business is completed.
The committee is primarily made-up Area 08 GSRs, but any Area Officer, DCM and A.A. member is welcome to join this area standing committee.

Committee members help create and develop five-yearly publications. They support the editor by accepting tasks such as seeking contributing articles and resourced materials published by GSO and beyond. They especially offer ideas and designs to communicate information and attract readership within the groups, promote readership, and participate in distributing issues that reach the groups.

CARRYING THE MESSAGE OF OUR THIRD LEGACY
Those of us who have served on the Newsletter Committee have found our experience to be a unique opportunity to contribute to our Fellowship, by helping connect the groups of Area 08 to the General Service Office and Alcoholics Anonymous World Services. We are grateful to carry the message of our third legacy of service and hope you will join us in this effort, one that has great needs to attract participation and that can bring unmeasured benefits and satisfaction to A.A. members everywhere.

COME VISIT
Any A.A. member interested in being of service in this way need only to attend their first meeting and express a desire to join the committee. Current assemblymembers are also presented opportunity to join this and thirteen other standing committees at each area assembly.
