SDIAA

San Diego & Imperial Area Assembly
of Alcoholics Anonymous

Our purpose is to…
β€œCarry the message to the alcoholic who still suffers. Support the General Service Conference and its members in its role as provider of A.A. world services, and as guardian of the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions. Elect and support a delegate to the General Service Conference. Provide communication and encourage unity within the Area. Assist in the development and communication of an informed group conscience.”

Due to the current health crisis, Area-08 Officers have unanimously voted to suspend all live, in-person Area sponsored activities until further notice.

We are seeking to keep this website as up to date as possible. Please check in regularly for new information that may impact times, locations, schedules & agendas.

We are now confronted with the shared conversation of bringing the lights back on and reopening our doors. This effort, however, should not compromise the safety of others. β€œAs our Traditions remind us, the formation and operation of an A.A. group resides with the group conscience. Therefore, we ask that group members and others refrain from any behavior which might compromise another person’s safety.”

A detailed questionnaire and informative document β€œGROUP REOPENING” has been added to the section of this website: ONLINE MEETING TECH SUPPORT. This document is designed to help our groups, our districts and our committee’s as they manage the autonomous and detailed conversation of defining the safest way forward. Many questions need to be asked and answers sought to ensure that our civil responsibility to each other is cared for above all else. We strongly suggest that ample time is provided to each group, district and/or committee to discuss these questions in an open, democratic manner. Possibly weekly steering committee meetings ought to be held until clarity and harmonious unanimity is achieved. Two additional documents have been added to support your efforts: β€œSafety Card for AA Groups” & β€œHow to Conduct a Sharing Session”. Finally, please do not hesitate to communicate your challenges, hurdles and successes with others. The wisdom to know the difference often times comes from the experience of the group or district right next door.

Have you discovered a canceled or suspended meeting? Please contact our Greater San Diego Central Office [E: sdaaco@aol.com; P: (619) 265-8762] or our North County Central Office [E: ncsandiegoaa@gmail.com; P: (760) 758-2514] and let them know ASAP. Many of our groups/meeting are not aware that someone should be notified, and this information kept current on our online Meeting Directories.

Thank you for your patience and efforts of support! We alcoholics are resilient as is our disease. Please be kind to one another and communicate helpful information as broadly as you can.
